Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Police say they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then found multiple other smeared automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests suggest the fluid was most likely human blood.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; authorities are not yet aware of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for tips.
A senior representative commented the attack made him without words and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
